It is a myth that a staircase should always be clockwise. An anti-clockwise direction is also acceptable—just like when a screw is turned anti-clockwise to be loosened, similarly, good energy can also ascend in this manner. The number of steps should always be odd.
A staircase placed in the Southeast to the Northwest direction is considered favorable. However, the Northeast, East, and North directions should generally be avoided. If a staircase is placed in the northeast, making it anti-clockwise is advisable. In the South of the Southeast, an anti-clockwise direction is permitted, while in all other directions, a clockwise direction is required.
