Panchtatva

In Hindu philosophy, ‘Panchatatva’ refers to the five fundamental elements forming the universe. These elements are seen as the foundation of material existence and are deeply rooted in various scriptures. Each element is believed to influence different aspects of life and human existence. Rig Veda has emphasized these five elements; they are Prithvi(Earth), Jal(Water), Pavan(Air), Tej or Agni(Fire), and Nabh or Akash(Sky or Space).

Ether represents the vastness, emptiness, and the space in which all other elements exist. It symbolizes consciousness, spiritual connection, and the essence of being. Ether is associated with a sense of hearing. It governs the mind and ability to understand the world.

All the five elements must balance with each other. Imbalances can lead to physical issues, emotional distress, mental confusion, and spiritual disconnection. These elements can be in equilibrium by practicing Yoga and Ayurveda. Another method that can profoundly affect the equilibrium of the five elements is the cardinal location of the infrastructure. Here, we take our knowledge from Vastu Shastra.
